Overview
MyVisualRoutine is built so that the things that matter to your family stay with your family. Everything you create in the app lives on your device. The app uses a small number of third-party services for anonymous usage analytics, crash reporting and subscription management, and the website uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors find us. This policy explains exactly what those services receive and why.
The App
Information That Stays on Your Device
All of the following is stored only on your device. We have no servers that receive it, and no cloud sync:
- Profiles you create
- Routines and visual schedules
- Choice boards, First/Then boards and day plans
- Photos you take or select
- Voice recordings you make
- Progress history and statistics
- App settings and preferences
If you back up your device (for example with iCloud or Google backup), your device's backup service may include the app's data under that service's own privacy terms. We do not have access to those backups.
Information We Collect
Through the third-party services listed below, the app sends us:
- Anonymous usage events, such as which screens are opened and which features are used
- Device model, operating system version and app version
- Crash reports and diagnostic information when the app crashes
- Anonymous subscription status (active or inactive) if you subscribe to Premium
Firebase assigns a random app-instance identifier so that events from one installation can be counted together. It is not an advertising identifier, it is not linked to you or your device's identity, and it is reset when you reinstall the app.
Information We Do Not Collect
We do not collect:
- Personal information (name, email address, phone number)
- Advertising identifiers (IDFA on iOS, Advertising ID on Android)
- Location data
- Photos you take or select
- Voice recordings you create
- Health or medical information
- Any data about the individuals you create routines or boards for
The app contains no advertising and no advertising SDKs. It does not show ads, does not measure ad interactions, and does not sell or share data for advertising.
No Account Required
You never need to create an account, sign in, or give us an email address to use the app. Because there is no account, there is nothing that connects your app data to you.
Subscription Information
If you subscribe to Premium:
- Payment is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), depending on where you got the app
- We receive an anonymous subscription status (active or inactive)
- We do not receive your payment details, name, Apple ID or Google account
- Subscriptions are managed through the RevenueCat SDK
RevenueCat
We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions. RevenueCat:
- Receives anonymous purchase receipts from the App Store or Google Play
- Does not receive personal information from us or from the app
- Cannot identify individual users
Third-Party Services in the App
The app uses these third-party services and no others:
| Service | Purpose | Data |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase Analytics | Anonymous usage analytics | App events (screens viewed, features used), device model, OS version, app version, a random app-instance ID. Advertising-ID support is disabled. |
| Firebase Crashlytics | Crash reporting | Crash stack traces, device model, OS version, app state at the time of the crash. |
| RevenueCat | Subscription management | Anonymous purchase receipts from the App Store or Google Play and an anonymous subscription status. |
Firebase Analytics
We use Firebase Analytics (Google Analytics for Firebase) to understand which features are used, so we can improve them. It is configured without advertising-ID support: the advertising identifier is never read or sent. Data collected includes:
- App opens, screen views and feature usage events
- Device model, operating system version and app version
- Session length and engagement metrics
Firebase Crashlytics
We use Firebase Crashlytics to find and fix crashes. When the app crashes, it sends:
- Crash stack traces and error logs
- Device state at the time of the crash
- Device model and operating system version
Crash reports never include your routines, photos, recordings or profiles.
The Website
Website Analytics (Google Analytics 4)
Our website (myvisualroutine.com) uses Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors find us and whether the site helps them get the app. We use it for measurement only, not for advertising, remarketing or cross-site tracking. The website loads no advertising SDKs, tracking pixels or fingerprinting scripts. Google Analytics receives:
- Pages viewed, and general browser and device information
- Conversion events when you click a store badge or download button, when an in-article download box scrolls into view, and which platform you choose on the download page. Each event records where on the page it happened and the page path.
- Platform detection: whether your browser reports itself as iOS, Android or something else, so we can send you to the right app store. This is derived from the browser's user-agent string and is not an identifier.
- Campaign attribution: if you arrive from a link
that carries campaign parameters (
utm_source,utm_medium,utm_campaign,utm_content,utm_term), those values are kept in your browser's session storage for the duration of that browser session, attached to the events above, and added to Google Play links as an install referrer so Google Play can attribute the install to the campaign. Session storage is cleared when you close the tab or browser.
Google Analytics writes cookies scoped to myvisualroutine.com (for example _ga) to tell visits
apart. The analytics information described above is sent to and processed by Google, a third-party service
provider. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. You can block Google Analytics with a content
blocker or browser setting; the website works fully without it.
Website Data Collection
The website does not:
- Show ads or load advertising SDKs or tracking pixels
- Share data with advertisers
- Use fingerprinting techniques
- Collect personal information unless you give it to us
The website may collect:
- Email address, only if you voluntarily sign up for updates
- Contact-form and therapist-request submissions, only what you type, stored in a spreadsheet we control and used solely to reply to you
Children's Privacy
MyVisualRoutine is designed for parents, caregivers and educators to use with the people they support. We take children's privacy seriously:
- No personal information is collected from anyone, child or adult
- No accounts are required
- No advertising is shown and no advertising identifiers are collected
- Parents and caregivers keep full control of all content created in the app
- Photos and voice recordings stay on the device
Important: The app is intended to be set up and managed by adults. Children may use it under supervision (for example in Kids Mode). The anonymous analytics and crash reporting described in this policy apply to the installation as a whole, not to any individual person using it.
We designed the app to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the GDPR and similar laws. If you believe we have received personal information from a child, contact us and we will delete it.
Data Security
- All data on your device is stored in the app's protected sandbox
- All communication with third-party services uses encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS)
- Our website is served over HTTPS
- Third-party providers (Google, RevenueCat) maintain their own security practices
Data Retention
Local app data:
- Routines, profiles, boards, photos, recordings and progress are stored only on your device
- Deleting the app deletes all of it
App analytics and crash data:
- Firebase Analytics event data is retained according to the retention period configured for our Firebase project, which Google caps at 14 months for user-level data
- Firebase Crashlytics data is retained for 90 days
- RevenueCat retains anonymous purchase records for as long as needed to manage the subscription
Website data:
- Google Analytics user-level data is retained for no more than 14 months; aggregated reports may be kept longer
- Campaign parameters kept in your browser's session storage are cleared when the browser session ends
- Email addresses (if provided) are retained until you unsubscribe
- Form submissions are retained until your request has been handled, or until you ask us to delete them
Your Rights
For app data:
- Access: everything you created is visible in the app
- Portability: you can export routines from the app (Premium feature)
- Deletion: deleting the app deletes all local data
For website data:
- Block Google Analytics with a browser setting or content blocker; the site works without it
- Use the unsubscribe link in any email we send
- Contact us to see or delete anything you have submitted through a form
If you are in the EU/EEA, the UK or another region with data-protection law, you may also have rights to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Because the app holds no personal data about you, most of these rights are satisfied simply by deleting the app.
International Users
MyVisualRoutine is developed in Norway and available worldwide. The anonymous data described above is processed by Google (Firebase, Google Analytics) and RevenueCat, which may process it in the United States or other countries where they operate, under their own privacy commitments.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy if our practices change. Changes will be:
- Posted on this page with a new "Last Updated" date
- Noted in app updates for significant changes
- Effective immediately upon posting
September 2026: removed all references to advertising. The app no longer includes any advertising SDK and never collects advertising identifiers. Documented the website's Google Analytics conversion measurement and campaign attribution.
